To be Loved is to be Known

Ahhh May, my favorite month. May always feels lively in Phoenix; it’s officially warm outside but not walking-into-a-hot-oven warm yet and the community seems to have a little extra pep in it's step. This May for LoNo consisted of celebrations, discovering my ideal summer dress, and the big question of fur or no fur (…more on this one later).

To be loved is to be known
For me personally, May is always packed with events. From birthdays to graduations and everything in between. We celebrated both a birthday (mine) and a graduation (Lora) this month at LoNo. My birthday fell on a Tuesday this year, which is typically the day that Lauren, Megan, and I meet to go over all things buying, marketing, etc. We kept our meeting but with a slight birthday twist. It was extra sweet and ended at Pane Bianco, my favorite. To be loved is to be known and that’s exactly how the day felt.

Our dear Lora graduated with her Masters in Screenwriting and we all couldn’t be more proud of her. Megan had a grand idea of throwing her a *surprise* grad party. Turns out Lora is impossible to surprise and reads into quite literally everything you say or do, so she knew the entire time. Nonetheless, we still had a wonderfully colorful night celebrating her. I made her favorite type of cake – Birthday cake. Yes, that’s right she loves the classic, covered in sprinkles. We had tacos, watermelon margaritas, and played pin the grad cap on the Lora. Hats off to Megan for top tier party decor. Megan sourced dinnerware, balloons, flowers, made graduation cards, and name cards printed on Baggu’s she felt matched each one of us best. If you don’t know, Lora is a Baggu collector so it only made sense. Once again, to be loved is to be known.

THE summer dress
We received lots of clothing for this Spring/Summer season and this month a fave is the Solei Dress from Whimsy + Row. When I tried it on it was kind of an immediate *yeah I’m not gonna take this off* moment. I’ve already worn it multiple times since purchasing and have come to realize it’s an ideal summer dress for me. During the hot hot months of Summer I prefer to have as little fabric touching my body as possible. This dress is long and flowy and made of a lightweight cotton gauze material. It’s loose design makes it extra comfortable and not to mention it’s just really dang cute. I almost want it in both the black and cream but I won’t get carried away.

Fur or no fur?
I’m sure you’re dying to know what I mean by this but let me first give some backstory. In one of our regular Tuesday meetings, we're talking about bringing in more accessories. We’ve talked about this brand in the past, but decided that was the day to actually go for it. Primecut makes leather goods such as keychains and card holders in fun colors and some.. with hair. So here enters the question, fur or no fur? Lauren being team no fur while Megan and I were team fur we decided to try out both and see what you, the customer gravitates towards. I began asking all the shop girls and all my friends if they liked the hairy wallets and most gave me very unsure looks. However, THIS hairy wallet sold out first. So yes, the hair on hide wallets are here to stay …for now. We actually just received a fresh batch :).

So now, I leave you with the question, fur or no fur?

I'm ending this month filled with gratitude for the community we share.

Your shop girl,
Alyah
